Brian Rutledge Ironwork Schools

A staple on the Moble calendar are our Ironwork Schools. Brian has been teaching students to weld, bend and build their own wrought iron creations for over 15 years, and his own pieces can be found in houses and gardens all around Australia. From gorgeous garden seats to bespoke bird baths, our students are hands-on at making their own pieces and we are always amazed at what is turned out of the workshop after one weekend. Beginners, those who have some welding experience or those who just need steel and a clear space to work independently are welcome. Everyone leaves with something fabulous.

We set dates for ironwork schools yearly, which can be found in our calendar of upcoming events back on our Experiences tab, or contact us if you would like to book your own private tutorial with a group of friends (6-8). Click here for our 2024 information sheet.

What our guests say

  • Thank you for making our anniversary one to remember the service and facilities were impeccable, would highly recommend it to anyone wanting an extra special time away I the outback. Thanks again, we will be back again soon.

    — COREY R
  • I just love it! The family, the food and the Jacks are the perfect combo for a break away in the spectacular outback in a beautiful creative country garden.

    — Megan T
  • I have never, in all my travels, come across anything like Moble. Brian, Kylie and Meg are the sincerest, most genuine and fantastically capable hosts. We arrived as coincidental customers, and will most certainly be back as friends.

I cannot emphasise strongly enough how great everything about Moble is, and would pay 5 times the price to stay there again.

    — Chris S
  • Moble Homestead always feels like home, delightful people and superb accommodation. An unforgettable experience.

    — Di M
  • A beautiful experience, with beautiful people; well worth the drive.
